Our first Run Battersea Run event was held on London Marathon day in Battersea Park on a rainy Sunday morning. Pupils from six primary schools in Wandsworth and Westminster came to take on a 2k running challenge and raise funds for their schools.
A huge thank you to all the school staff, parents, sports coaches and sponsors who supported the initiative and helped us organise a fantastic afternoon of fun & fitness.
Congratulations to all the runners who braved the miserable drizzle and came out in force for to complete their mini-marathon (2k). They gave it their all, pushed to their limit and beamed with pride after reaching the finish line.
400 runners, some as young at 3yrs, their parents, grandparents, siblings . . . all encouraged each other on and completed the course.
What a great achievement!
A huge thank you to our generous sponsors. Thanks to them, each school received £5,000 for projects to improve the learning experience of all pupils: developing green spaces to enhance the curriculum, improve playgrounds and fund school trips and excursions.
For the first time, runners from local state and private schools joined the run and helped us raise another £1,200 for the participating schools. A great show of Kids Helping Kids!
This event would not have been possible without the sponsorship and support of our generous partners.
